The November 2015 Comedy Night, held on November 6th, included local area comedian Bucky Lewis and his zany antics. Bucky had us laughing from the moment he came on stage until his last act of the night.

A special note of thanks to the Brattleboro Union High School football and lacrosse programs.  Four players from each team helped--with the normal things like set up and take down, and keeping the snack table filled--and also allowed themselves to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.  The following day, the two teams set off to local charities and families in need, and helped them for a few hours with tasks like unloading supplies, cleaning and raking leaves.

We are also grateful to the many raffle donors who helped make this night such a success:

  • Achille Agway: $25 gift certificate
  • Two canvas prints
  • Brattleboro Garden Club: many centerpieces

For several years, the Brattleboro School Endowment happily ran a “Mt. Snow Express Bus”.  It was sponsored by four generous local companies who believe in our community’s kids: A.L. Tyler & Sons, Lawton Flooring, The Marina Restaurant and Vermont Country Deli.

It ran in late December through early March, including Town Meeting Day, and usually carried students from many surrounding towns as well as Brattleboro.

The bus left from Academy School’s front door area at 8 AM, and then stopped at the gas station on Route 30 around 8:15. It arrived Sundance Lodge at 9 AM. The return trip departed the Sundance Lodge at 4 PM, arriving back to the gas station on Route 30 by 4:30 and back to Academy around 4:45 PM.

Riders signed a waiver of liability, and must be 7th grade or older in order to ride without adult. Bus riders were responsible for being on the bus at the time of departure. One adult chaperones rode the bus each week! Reminders and cancellations were announced via an email list we maintain, and also on our Facebook page at Brattleboro School Endowment.
